The Daily Catch | Fishing Report – April 2024

A Sunny Forecast for Offshore Fishing in Clearwater Beach, Florida

Spring is in full swing, and the fishing action near Clearwater Beach has been heating up! Spanish Mackerel are feeding actively nearshore, especially along beaches, artificial reefs, and larger natural bottom areas. Kingfish action is picking up too, with schools appearing around 40 to 80 feet of water, making trolling and flat-lining effective techniques to bring in these hard-fighting fish.

Nearshore Trips: Kingfish & Spanish Mackerel Frenzy
This season’s nearshore trips (4, 6, and 8 hours) have been packed with exciting trolling action. With schools of Kingfish, Bonita, and a hot Spanish Mackerel bite, the deck has been bustling with non-stop action. Bringing in a trophy Kingfish takes teamwork, communication, and a bit of muscle, but don’t worry—our crew will guide you every step of the way, so you’ll feel like a seasoned pro by the time you reach shore!

Offshore Trips: Hogfish, Snapper & More
On our offshore trips, the Hogfish bite is still on, although it has slowed slightly with the warmer water temperatures. During this season, Hogfish tend to spread out, so catching them requires a little finesse. We recommend using live shrimp on lighter tackle with minimal weight, targeting small ledges or flat hard bottom areas. Along with Hogfish, we’re seeing plenty of action from bottom species like Grey Snapper, Lane Snapper, and Mangrove Snapper.

Red Snapper & Red Grouper Season Approaching
Mark your calendars—June 1st is fast approaching, and that means Red Snapper and Red Grouper season is just around the corner! Our offshore trips will be targeting these prized fish- be sure to check our availability and reserve your spot early.
