The Daily Catch | Fishing Report – December 2024
December brought its share of challenges with cold fronts and occasional windy conditions, but we made the most of every weather window to get our anglers on the fish. Whether nearshore or offshore, our trips have been packed with excitement and plenty of memorable catches.
Bottom Fishing and Trolling Action
For those opting for shorter trips closer to shore (4-8 hours), the action has been hot! We’ve been trolling for Spanish mackerel and kingfish, both of which have been abundant and eager to bite. On the bottom fishing side, our guests have enjoyed steady catches of grey snapper, porgy, mangrove snapper, and the ever-popular hogfish. These trips have been perfect for families, beginners, and seasoned anglers alike, offering a great mix of species and action-packed fun.
An Exciting End to Our 2024 Red Snapper Season
For those looking to venture farther offshore, our 10-12 hour trips have been delivering big rewards, traveling between 40-60 miles offshore. Winter red snapper fishing has proven to be both a fun and rewarding experience, as the cooler waters bring their own unique challenges and opportunities. We’ve had great success using both cut and live bait to attract these prized fish. With red snapper season closing on December 31, now is the perfect time to get in on the action. While gag grouper season is officially closed, the cooler water temperatures have them fired up, and the thrill of catching and releasing these giants has kept spirits high. Looking ahead, we’re already excited for the red snapper season in June 2025, which promises even more incredible fishing adventures and warmer weather!
