The Daily Catch | Fishing Report – March 2025
Bottom Fishing Action
March has been a busy one out on the water, and the fishing has been nothing short of incredible! We started off the month doing a ton of bottom fishing, dropping shrimp and cut bait down to hardbottom structure. The gag grouper bite has been on fire—it’s too bad they’re still catch and release, but they sure make for an exciting fight. Along with the gags, we’ve been getting a solid mix of hogfish, sheepshead, grey snapper, porgy, seabass, and even a few puffer fish on our shorter trips, keeping things interesting.
On our longer trips, we’ve been targeting red grouper and mangrove snapper. These fish are hanging out in deeper waters, and we’ve had great success bringing them up using live bait and cut bait. Red grouper have been hitting hard, and the mangrove snapper are schooling up nicely, making for some solid catches and great dinners for our anglers.
Trolling Season Kicks Off
The weather has treated us pretty well overall. We had a few breezy days, but for the most part, it’s been fantastic. With temps hitting the mid-80s, the water has warmed back up to around 70 degrees, which means one thing—time to start trolling! By mid-month, we switched gears and started pulling spoons, greenies, and ballyhoo rigs. The Spanish mackerel showed up first, and by the 20th, we were starting to hook into some kingfish. That’s right—trolling season is officially here! If you love the thrill of high-speed action and screaming drags, now is the time to book a trip and get in on the bite.
The Lore Gets Some Love
It wasn’t just fishing keeping us busy, though. Our boat, The Lore, went up to the boatyard at the beginning of the month for a little TLC. We put in the work—sanding and repainting the bottom, cleaning up and re-oiling the teak, giving the topside deck a fresh look, and waxing the entire hull. We also knocked out some maintenance on the running gear to keep everything running smooth. She’s looking sharp and ready for the season ahead!
Spring Break Madness & Looking Ahead
Between spring break crowds and stellar fishing, March has been non-stop action. We’ve had an awesome time taking families, friends, and serious anglers out on the water for unforgettable trips. The energy on the docks has been electric, and we love seeing so many new and returning faces.
With April around the corner, it’s time to start planning for the upcoming Red Snapper Season, which kicks off June 1st! These trips fill up fast, so if you want to get in on the best bottom fishing of the year, now’s the time to lock in your dates.
