Don’t Miss Your Chance for a KEEPER! Red Snapper Season is in Full Swing

The June Red Snapper season opener has been nothing short of spectacular, and as we head into July, we’re expecting even more action! If we get the fishing and weather aligned, July is shaping up to be even hotter—don’t miss your chance to reel in a keeper!

A Rollercoaster Start, but a Fantastic Finish
The month started off with some less-than-ideal weather, keeping us docked for the first few days. However, our maiden Red Snapper voyage on June 6th marked the beginning of a stellar month on the water. Despite some rough seas early on, the following weeks brought us calm seas and clear skies, setting the stage for some unforgettable fishing adventures.

Nonstop Action on 8, 10, and 12-Hour Trips
We’ve been spending plenty of time on our longer 8, 10, and 12-hour trips, giving us ample opportunity to target Red Snapper and Red Grouper. Fishing primarily on hard bottom, we’ve had great success with big shows of Snappers and Groupers. After some trial and error, we discovered that the Red Snapper and Red Grouper preferred dead cut bait over live bait. Cut Threadfins and chunk bait have been the key to filling our coolers with limits, although we occasionally had a good bite on live bait as well.

A Chance at Mahi-Mahi
While targeting Red Snapper and Grouper, keep your eyes peeled for a possible Mahi-Mahi sighting! This time of year, they tend to be on the smaller side, around 12-18 inches, but they’re still fun to catch and delicious to eat once they’re hooked!

Family-Friendly Nearshore Fun
In between our longer trips, we’ve also had some fantastic nearshore action on our 4-6 hour trips. These trips are perfect for families or beginners looking for a fun day out on the water. We’ve been catching a variety of fish, including Key West, Mangrove, and Lane Snappers, Porgy, Sea Bass, and smaller Grouper varieties. The action has been non-stop with water depths ranging between 40-50 feet—ideal for a relaxed, family-friendly fishing experience.
