The Daily Catch | Fishing Report – December 2025
December Bottom Fishing Highlights

December delivered consistent bottom fishing and some beautiful days offshore. Hogfish have been biting well, giving us plenty of opportunities to get them in the boat, especially when using shrimp as bait. We’ve also been seeing strong action from gag grouper and red grouper. Gag grouper are currently catch and release only, but the bite has been phenomenal. Red grouper have been testing our luck on shorter trips, and when everything lines up just right, we’ve been able to bring one home on a 4-hour trip, which is always a great surprise when it happens. The gag grouper and mangrove snapper bite has also been great on the bottom using sardines, keeping rods bent throughout the day.

December Weather & Conditions
The weather in December could not have been better. Calm seas, sunshine, and comfortable temperatures made for ideal fishing conditions. We were fishing in tank tops and shorts around Christmas, which is not something you always get to say this time of year. Those conditions allowed us to get offshore consistently and enjoy smooth, comfortable rides while focusing on fishing.
A Look Back at an Incredible 2025
As December wraps up, it also closes the door on an incredible year. 2025 was filled with steady fishing, memorable catches, and great days spent on the water with our guests. From nearshore trolling to longer offshore runs, it was a year that reminded us just how lucky we are to do what we do.
What’s Ahead in 2026
Looking forward, 2026 has a lot to be excited about. January continues to offer a great bottom fishing bite for hogfish and snapper. By March, spring break brings warmer water temperatures and the return of king and Spanish mackerel. Before we know it, June will be here and we’ll be running long 8–12 hour trips targeting red snapper, red grouper, lane snapper, vermillion snapper, mangrove snapper, and whatever surprises decide to bite. As the water warms up, we can also expect some big sharks to make an appearance, leading to some exciting battles and unforgettable photos at the boat.
