The Daily Catch | Fishing Report – November 2023
Nearshore Excitement: Kingfish & Spanish Mackerel
The Kingfish have officially arrived! With schools of Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel now moving in, our nearshore waters are heating up for some thrilling, action-packed fishing. Our 4- and 6-hour trips are perfect for anglers eager to land a trophy Kingfish while also loading up on Spanish Mackerel for the cooler.
Trolling Tactics: Maximizing Your Catch
To target these fast, silver predators, we use a full trolling spread, typically setting out four lines with a mix of lures and rigs for success. But when we’re looking to up the excitement, we’ll run a fifth or even sixth line. King spoons, Greenies, and Ballyhoo rigs are our top bait choices, consistently delivering results. Live bait like greenbacks and Spanish sardines are also highly effective, though we usually limit these to 2–3 rods to minimize tangles.
Bottom Fishing Highlights: Snapper & Grouper Action
For those interested in bottom fishing, our 6- and 8-hour trips are bringing in plenty of Grey Snapper and Lane Snapper, perfect for a fresh meal. The cooler water has also ignited Gag Grouper activity. While they’re currently catch-and-release only due to seasonal closures, they’re still putting up a strong fight for those willing to reel them up from the depths.
