What an exciting month it’s been on the water! With Amberjack season kicking off and wrapping up the last few weeks of Red Snapper season, we’ve had no shortage of fish to target. August has brought beautiful weather, similar to July, creating perfect conditions for offshore and nearshore adventures alike.
Offshore Action: Red Snapper, Amberjack, and More!
On the offshore side of things, we’ve been having a blast! While Red Grouper season closed on July 21st, we’ve been focusing on Red Snapper, which have been plentiful, along with a few surprise catches of grouper that have snuck in. With the weather cooperating, it’s been a fantastic time to target Amberjack, especially on the wrecks further offshore. Amberjacks are known for their powerful runs, and they’ve been responding well to live pinfish, as well as jigs and trolling plugs. Whether you’re a seasoned angler looking for the thrill of the fight or a beginner wanting to learn some new techniques, targeting these fish has been a real highlight.
Nearshore Trips: Perfect for Families and Beginners
If you’re looking for a more relaxed but equally exciting fishing experience, our nearshore trips (4-6 hours) are producing some great action. These shorter trips, taking place in waters ranging from 40-50 feet, offer a variety of catches for anglers of all skill levels.
Bottom fishing has been productive, with catches of Key West Snappers, Mangrove Snappers, Lane Snappers, Porgy, Sea Bass, and smaller Grouper species. Meanwhile, trolling for Spanish Mackerel has added even more excitement to the day, as these fish have been abundant, creating non-stop action on the water.
These trips are fantastic for families, first-time anglers, or anyone looking to enjoy a fun day of fishing without committing to a full-day offshore adventure.
