The red drum has a silvery body with a reddish or copper tinge and a silvery-gray to white belly. Its scales have a dark center, forming poorly defined lines on its body. It usually grows 20 to 30 inches in length, but can grow as long as 5 feet and weigh as much as 90 pounds.
